Bulldogs nip Wildcats, get
back in win column
DECATUR -- Thursday
night the Saint Teresa Bulldogs ended a two game losing streak with a four
run comeback to beat South Piatt, 5-4. A complete game by Bill Riebock,
along with some clutch come from behind hitting the Saint Teresa Bulldogs
went home with a victory.
The Wildcats jumped ahead
to a 4-0 lead in the third. The Bulldogs bats still were silent though.
It wasn't until the fifth inning that the Bulldogs put together a 5 run
rally to take the lead and beat South Piatt. The Dawgs scored all 5 runs
with two outs.
Daniel Cox, Tony Glosser,
and Jared Dehority all came through with clutch 2 out RBI hits. The
Bulldoogs looked more relaxed and much more aggressive on the offensive
end Tuesday, than they had earlier in the week.
The seventh inning defense
capped off the night. right fielder Tony Glosser tracked down a high fly
ball down the right field line and managed to coral it in backhanded on
a dead sprint. The game then concluded on a pick-off play the Bulldogs
ran to pick of a runner at second base. Junior second basebman Kevin Keller
ran the runner toward third before faking a throw and tagging the runner
out.
Bill Riebock pitched a beautiful
complete game (7 IP, 3 K, 1 BB). Riebock who suffered a lower back muscle
pull last weekend battled through the injury to help the team snap the
two game losing streak.
The Bulldogs look to build
on ths victory when they travel to Riverton on Saturday to take on the
Riverton Hawks in a double header at 10:00 a.m. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! |
