Bulldogs split twin bill with Rockets
GAME 1
ROCHESTER -- The Bulldogs came back from a four run deficit, to pick up the teams 8th victory of the young season. A key sixth inning rally keyed the Bulldogs 8-5 victory.

Junior pitcher Tony Glosser struggled early allowing 5 runs in the first 3 innings. Glosser settled in nicely shutting down the Rockets and allowing the Bulldog bats to come alive and pick up the victory.

And come alive did they. In the sixth inning the Bulldogs were down 5-1 before a 5 run rally put the Bulldogs into the lead. Daniel Wayne tied the game at 5 with a two out 2-run double. The Bulldogs took the lead with a Matt Dilbeck single.

Glosser threw strikes and the defense made the plays in the sixth and seventh, to hold on to a come back 3-run win. The final score ended up 8-5 in the Bulldogs favor.

GAME 2

The second game was filled with missed opportunities and the Bulldogs did not make key plays in the 7-4 loss. Junior pitcher Chris Burns struggled throughout his 2 2/3 innings in the rain and wind. Burns did not recieve the best defensive effort the Bulldogs put out this season.

Sophomore Sean Highley came in and finished the pitching duties for the Bulldogs. Saint Teresa only managed 4 runs in the seven innings of play. The fianl scored ended 7-4, in the Rockets favor.

Mahomet beats St. T

DECATUR-- A defense which has been solid, and very reliable the last three games for the Bulldogs broke down Thursday in the Bulldogs 9-7 loss. Mike Kormelink threw a decent ball-game, walking too many but he did not have many key plays made behind him.

The Bulldogs bats did come alive to score seven runs in six innings. But it was not enough to overcome Mahomet. The visiting bulldogs piled on three crucial runs in the top half of the sixth, which made the difference. Saint Teresa tried to come back from five runs back in the final inning, but they only managed to record three wuns to fall short.

The Bulldogs continue action on Friday when they host Okaw Valley Conference foe, Maroa-Forsyth at 4:15.

The Bulldogs jumped on the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints in the second inning and never looked back. Despite walking quite a few hitter, senior pitcher Chris Gillmar did not allow one hit. This was the third complete game shutout in as many days for the Bulldogs.

03.26.01
Bulldogs blank Braves

DECATUR -- The Saint Teresa Bulldogs executed and made playes defensively behind Junior pitcher Bill Riebock to pull an upset over the
Mt. Zion Braves 4-0.

The Bulldogs and the Braves failed to score in the first, but the Bulldogs would strike first in the second inning, after Chris Gillmar's lead off double. Designated hitter Ryan Davis bunted Gillmar to third, he was later brought home on Tom Noonan's safety squeeze bunt. Noonan advanced to second on an errant throw.

Riebock remained solid therefore allowing the Bulldogs to pile on more runs. But to do that was not easy. The Bulldogs didn't strike again until, right fielder Chris Douglass was driven home by right fielder Tony Glosser's two out triple making it a 2-0 Bulldog lead.

Saint Teresa added two more runs in the fifth, when Chris Gillmar and Tony Glosser drove in one run a piece, making it a fout run spread. Riebock and the defense remained solid throughout to shut the door. The final Score was Bulldogs 4, Braves 0.

Tuesday evening the Bulldogs will open conference play against the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals when they travel to Warrensburg for a 4 o'clock gametime. Hope to see you there!

Bulldogs nip Wildcats, get back in win column

DECATUR -- Thursday night the Saint Teresa Bulldogs ended a two game losing streak with a four run comeback to beat South Piatt, 5-4. A complete game by Bill Riebock, along with some clutch come from behind hitting the Saint Teresa Bulldogs went home with a victory.

The Wildcats jumped ahead to a 4-0 lead in the third. The Bulldogs bats still were silent though. It wasn't until the fifth inning that the Bulldogs put together a 5 run rally to take the lead and beat South Piatt. The Dawgs scored all 5 runs with two outs.

Daniel Cox, Tony Glosser, and Jared Dehority all came through with  clutch 2 out RBI hits. The Bulldoogs looked more relaxed and much more aggressive on the offensive end Tuesday, than they had earlier in the week.

The seventh inning defense capped off the night. right fielder Tony Glosser tracked down a high fly ball down the right field line and managed to coral it in backhanded on a dead sprint. The game then concluded on a pick-off play the Bulldogs ran to pick of a runner at second base. Junior second basebman Kevin Keller ran the runner toward third before faking a throw and tagging the runner out.

Bill Riebock pitched a beautiful complete game (7 IP, 3 K, 1 BB). Riebock who suffered a lower back muscle pull last weekend battled through the injury to help the team snap the two game losing streak.

The Bulldogs look to build on ths victory when they travel to Riverton on Saturday to take on the Riverton Hawks in a double header at 10:00 a.m. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Dawgs drop second straight

ASSUMPTION -- For the second day in a row the Saint Teresa Bulldogs failed to execute in big situations. The Bulldogs fell to Central A&M 10-4 Tuesday.

Tony Glosser (1-1) started his second game of the year. Glosser made a limited number of mistakes but the Raiders took advantage of every one, as good teams do. Glosser gave up two homeruns, 10 hits, 5 walks in six innings. Glosser did not pitch as well as he liked it but he battled through his troubles. Multiple times in the game Glosser got the pitch to get out of the inning but either the defense behind him would let him down or the ball would fall just right to continue the inning.

The Raiders scored 9 of their ten runs with two outs. The Bulldogs scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning, cutting the lead to 5-4. Central A&M blew the game open once again with two outs in the fourth. This was the first of three meetings between these teams (April 12 @ Busch Stadium, St. Louis, and April 20 @ Saint Teresa)

The Bulldogs will play again Thursday night. It will be their second home game. They will host the visiting South Piatt High School @ 4:30. Hope to see you there. Come Support the TEAM!

Tony Glosser: (1-1) 6 IP, 10 H, 5 W.
Chris Burns: (0-0) 1 IP, 0 H, 1 K, 0 W.

Cross-town rivals shutout Bulldogs

DECATUR -- Matt Hall and the cross-town MacArthur Generals came to Saint Teresa Monday. The Bulldog bats went cold and didn't take advantage of any opportunities. The Generals jumped out to a second inning lead and never looked back, dropping the Bulldogs 9-0 on their home turf.

Jordan Spurlock drove in MacArthurs first run in the second with a two out drive to left center field. That was all the Generals needed behind the pitching of Junior Matt Hall.

"I feel that our guys executed well in the game.  Our defense was dependable and our bats came alive. The  Bulldogs gave us a good game though, they will be a tough team in their conference," Hall said of the game.

The Bulldogs take the field Tuesday in Assumption vs. Central A&M at 4:15. Hope to see you there!

EDINBURGH -- The Saint Teresa Bulldogs got the 2001 season off on the right foot with the help of opening game starter, Tony Glosser. Glosser threw 5 scoreless innings in route to a 7-0 Bulldogs victory.

All bats were silent through 2 innings before a short rally by the bulldogs opened the scoring for the 2001 season. The Bulldogs only run of the inning though came on Daniel Cox's second bunt for a hit of the day. Cox's bunt moved the Bulldogs out to a 1-0 lead.

Saint Teresa striked once again in the fourth when they scored 2 runs on a Ryan Davis double to left-center field. The dawgs were not done yet. Saint Teresa's bats came alive in the 6th and 7th driving in 4 more runs to push it  to a convincing 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.

Along with Glosser's great effort the Bulldogs recieved a strong inning from Bill Riebock and Chris Burns each. The Bulldogs will open their home schedule on Monday when the cross town rival MacArthur Generals visit Saint Teresa.
