DECATUR -- The Saint
Teresa Bulldogs executed and made playes defensively behind Junior pitcher
Bill Riebock to pull an upset over the
Mt. Zion Braves 4-0.
The Bulldogs and the Braves
failed to score in the first, but the Bulldogs would strike first in the
second inning, after Chris Gillmar's lead off double. Designated hitter
Ryan Davis bunted Gillmar to third, he was later brought home on Tom Noonan's
safety squeeze bunt. Noonan advanced to second on an errant throw.
Riebock remained solid therefore
allowing the Bulldogs to pile on more runs. But to do that was not easy.
The Bulldogs didn't strike again until, right fielder Chris Douglass was
driven home by right fielder Tony Glosser's two out triple making it a
2-0 Bulldog lead.
Saint Teresa added two more
runs in the fifth, when Chris Gillmar and Tony Glosser drove in one run
a piece, making it a fout run spread. Riebock and the defense remained
solid throughout to shut the door. The final Score was Bulldogs 4, Braves
0.
Tuesday evening the Bulldogs
will open conference play against the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals when
they travel to Warrensburg for a 4 o'clock gametime. Hope to see you there!
