5/16/00  DECATUR-- The ninth seeded Monticello Sages scored the final ten runs Tuesday afternoon to end the Bulldogs season, with a 10-1 victory. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second run but did not score after that.

Junior Chris Gillmar started for the Bulldogs and was charged with 5 runs in 3 innings of work. Sophomore Tony Glosser relieved Gillmar and pitched two innings allowing 3 runs. Sophomore Bill Riebock finished the game for the Dawgs allowing 2 runs in 2 innings.

The Bulldogs scored their only run when senior left fielder Justin Morrison roped a triple off of pitcher Justin Morrison. Morrison was driven in by the next batter, senior third baseman Dan Jedlicka. Monticello advances to play the number one seeded Clinton Maroons.

Dawgs rout Crusaders

DECATUR-- The St. Teresa Bulldogs scored early and often as they routed the Springfield Lutheran Crusaders 13-3 Saturday.  Chris Gillmar was solid, but lifted after three innnings, due to the start of regional play beginning Tuesday.

Gillmar also got it done at the plate, collecting three hits and adding two RBI.  Justin Morrison also had three hits and Tony Glosser added a pair of hits and two RBI.

The Dawgs put an end to all the shouting with a seven run fifth to end the game via the ten run rule.  Sopomore Tom Noonan doubled in a run to left to end the game.

The Dawgs regular season ended Saturday with the win.  They enter Regional play two games under .500 with a 10-12 record.

Early runs not enough for Dawgs

5/4/00 SULLIVAN- Saint Teresa scored five runs in the first three innings but did not score again. The Redskins put up eleven unanswered runs as the Bulldogs used five pitchers, Tony Glosser, Chris Burns, Bill Riebock, Chris Gillmar, and Sean Highley.

The Bulldogs recieved hits from Tony Glosser, Ryan Webb, and a triple from Justin Morrison. This game was a makeup of a previous rain out from April 17th.

Early Exit for the Dawgs in Conference Tournament

5/2/00 WARRENSBURG- The Bulldogs defense suffered and cost them a key first round game in the Okaw Valley Conference Tournament. The Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals defeated the Dawgs 8-4 by scoring 5 unearned runs.

Despite great pitching from Junior starting pitcher, Chris Gillmar, and excellent relief work from Sophomores Tony Glosser and Bill Riebock the Bulldogs allowed 8 runs. Defensively the bulldogs committed key errors at key times which the Cardinals took advantage of scoring 5 unearned runs.

The Dawgs took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the fifth with two outs before a walk and a key error which allowed the inning to continue. That allowed the Cardinals to pile on three runs to take a 6-4 lead before adding 2 in the sixth.

The Bulldogs scored runs on a Cardinal error on senior left fielder Justin Morrison's fly ball and also on two doubles from Sophomore first baseman/pitcher Tony Glosser.

Late Inning Hits Lift Dawgs

4/25/00  SPRINGFIELD-- There were two outs in the sixth inning with a one run Bulldog lead until the Saint Teresa bats went off scoring five runs widening the gap between them and the Ursuline Sonics. The Bulldogs added to the 8-2 lead by scoring 7 runs in their final at bat allowing them to pick up their eighth win of the season.

Sophomore pitcher Bill (not Phil as reported in the Herald & Review) Riebock  pitched six brilliant innings allowing two runs, four hits, walking one, and striking out one. After missing two weeks due to a shoulder problem Riebock has won his last two games. Chris "Chico" Burns came in to pitch the seventh walking the leadoff batter and striking out one before forcing a batter to fly into a 8-3 double play.

The Dawgs bats were silent until the sixth when they received key hits from Freshman catcher Justin Henneman (3-5 5 RBI), Junior second baseman Chris Gillmar (3-4), Senior designated htter Justin Morrison (2-3 3 RBI), Senior shortstop Ryan Webb (2-3), Junior left fielder Daniel Cox (1-2 2 RBI), and Sophomore left fielder Tom Noonan (1-1, sacrifice fly, 2 RBI).

Raiders Bloop way past Dawgs

4/21/00 ASSUMPTION-- Central A&M took advantage of every Bulldog miscue as they blooped in hits and hit bleeders to beat the Dawgs 9-8.

Sophomore Tony Glosser picked up the loss, after giving up all nine runs -- less than that earned -- in his 5 1/3 innings.  Glosser never seemed to get into any kind of groove as he, uncharacteristically, struggled with his control.

He was not helped by the shabby defense that the Dawgs played that gave the Raiders several more outs than they should have had.

Despite falling to the Raiders, the Dawgs connected for three homers on the day.  St. T took advantage of the short fences as shortstop Ryan Webb hit a solo homer and Center fielder Chris Schroth and Backup Catcher Justin Hennemann each hit two run homers.

The rally was started by backup catcher Justin Henneman, who led the inning off by doubling to left center.  In the rally the Bulldogs also received big hits from Senior third baseman Dan Jedlicka and Freshman first baseman Ryan Davis, who tripled.

The game was played at the Bulldogs home field because after last nights rain Clinton's field was not playable.

The Dawgs received a very strong outing by Junior Pitcher Chris Gillmar. Gillmar threw all seven innings allowing four runs. Gillmar's record improves to 2-2.

The Dawgs bats had plenty of opportunities to stike while having the bases loaded in all of the first three innings but only managing five runs throughtout the game. The Bulldogs received RBIs from Sophomore first baseman Tony Glosser and Senior left fielder Justin Morrison.

The Rams had a one out rally in the seventh to cut the Bulldog lead from 5-3 to 5-4 on a sacrafice fly, which was the second out. The Generals got a strong outing on the mound from ace Matt Peterson who threw all seven innings. Kormelink worked varsity inning in the doublheader at Riverton two weeks ago. Kormelink pitched three and two thirds innings keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance of the Generals.

Sophomore Chirs Burns came in relief to close out the fourth and finish the game. Burns also did a great job keeping the Dawgs in reach. But Peterson was too strong on this day, keeping Bulldog hitters off ballance by stetting up his curve ball by consistantly staying ahead in the count. The Dawgs did receive RBIs from Jared Dehority and Dan Jedlicka.

Bulldogs Drop  two to Hawks

3/25/00 RIVERTON-- The St. Teresa baseball team was swept in a doubleheader Saturday by the Riverton Hawks.  Freshman Sean Highley worked the first game, a 10-0 shutout.  Highley struggled in the first inning, yielding five runs.  He then settled in nicely as he held the Hawks down, for the most part, the next three innings.

The Dawgs threw four different pitchers in the first game -- three freshmen.

In the second game, the Dawgs had to use a patchwork pitching effort, but a seventh inning rally came up short as the Dawgs fell 6-4.  Chris Burns started the game and was followed by three relievers.

The Dawgs were dealt quite a blow to their pitching when they learned Sophomore pitcher/shortstop Billy Riebock will likely miss significant action for much of the season due to a shoulder problem.

For Riverton, centerfielder Trevor Boes had a huge day, going 4-5 with three long home runs and a walk.  This was the season opener for the Hawks who placed fourth in the state in basketball two weeks ago.

The Dawgs also received big hits from Designated Hitter Ryan Davis (2-2 2 RBI), Right Fielder Jared Dehority (2-3 3 RBI), and Left Fielder Justin Morrison who added a triple. The game was called due to lack of light in the top of the fifth.

The game was played at St. Teresa's home field because Bement's field was still not dry from the past weekend's rain.  Saint Teresa was still the visitors on the scoreboard.

Bulldogs lose Heartbreaker

3/22/00-  DECATUR-- The Bulldogs fell 9-8 in six innings to the MacArthur Generals.  Chris Gillmar pitched 3 1/3 solid innings before trouble struck.

The Dawgs consistently out hit the Generals.  They led 8-0 for the majority of the game before the roof caved in.

The game winning hit was a controversial two run single that many believed struck base runner Josh Mulligan between first and second.  The Dawgs disputed the call to no avail.

Come support the Dawgs!!
